JCM Student Holds Graduation Concert

April 05, 2016

Silas Yu, a Jubilee College of Music student, held a graduation performance last Thursday in San Francisco. JCM Master’s students are required to stage a concert to fulfill graduation requirements.

Under the theme “Jesus Is the Way, the Truth and the Life,” Yu performed 10 popular contemporary worship songs including Jeremy Camp's “You Are Worthy of My Praise” and Reuben Morgan's “What the Lord Has Done in Me.”

JCM students and Jubilee San Francisco collaborated, supporting Yu with a complete worship band. Yu was the lead vocalist and directed the entire event under the mentoring of Dr. Merril Smoak, dean of JCM.

"I am thankful that I could finish my concert with God's grace and with my friends' help,” Yu said. “This concert will be a wonderful memory in my life. Every rehearsal was like having a dialogue with God. I experienced rest in His embrace. Because of Jesus, everything is meaningful in my life."

The concert also included a duet between Yu and Dr. Smoak. They sang Don Moen's “God Will Make a Way.”

Students in attendance testified of God's grace and healing revealed through music.
